Fall in New York City!

With cooler winds blowing through the Flatiron District and the leaves of Madison Square Park turning yellow to red there is no denying that Fall is upon us once again. Here at Hotel Chandler our team is looking forward to everything that entails in New York and we are excited to share some of our favorite seasonal things around the City! From fall treats, to festivals, to the beginning of the Holiday season we are all looking forward to layering on the sweaters and bringing in the season!

Fall in NYC

The Union Square Greenmarket is bringing out its glorious varities of squashes and gourds but if you are looking for a more indulgent festive treat here are our favorites:

  • Eataly: Stop by for a scoop of gelato—stayed tuned for their fall flavors! Some classic favorites are Nocciola and Fior di Latte!
  • Fat Witch Bakery: This famous brownie specialist features a seasonal pumpkin brownie, a slither of brownie under a thick layer of pumpkin cake. Another great reason to spend some time in Chelsea Market during your trip!

If you are staying with us at some point between September and November there is no doubt a festival is happening somewhere within the five boroughs. A few of our favorites are:

  • The Feast of San Gennaro: Running September 11th through 21st this annual Little Italy celebration is filled with religious processions, parades, musical entratainment and more cannolis than you have ever seen!
  • Jazz & Colors Festival: One set list, dozens of jazz bands and beautiful fall leaves. Take a stroll around Central Park and enjoy not only the scenery but the amazing live music.
  • Oktoberfest: This German festival kicks off at the end of September with lively celebrations, authentic food and great brews across the City! Some of our favorite places to celebrate are Loreley Restaurant & Biergarten, Pilsener Haus Biergarten, and DGBG!
  • Halloween: This holiday is widely celebrated in the city with the famous Greenwich Village Parade and parties of every theme imaginable. On our to do list is visit one of the many haunted locations of the city. One of our favorites, a haunted dinner spot is “One if by Land, Two if by Sea” located on Barrow Street in the heart of West Village. Not only is the food and décor lovely of this former carriage house but its former resident and our founding father Aaron Burr’s ghost is said to frquent the eatary and is the source of its paranomormal activity –from unexplained flickering lights and misplaced items! If you are traveling with children we recommend walking to Bryant Park for Le Carrousel Trick or Treat (Saturday Octoer 25th) for Halloween fesitivities at our favorite carousel.
